This revelation came progressively as does
all; therefore, I must go back to build a backdrop for Christ, the Tentmaker.
A while ago, I was praying. “Show me how
to pray without ceasing. Reveal the depths of this to and in me. Help
me to lay down preconceived ideas”. At this point, I thought of a scripture
that referred to how high God’s thoughts were above ours. I remembered
where it was. The word says, Your ways are not My ways, your thoughts
are not My thoughts. I said”, Help me to think with my spirit, which has
no boundaries. No limitations”. With our human minds, we think so small.
When we think with our spirit in union with His spirit there are no limitations.
The word says we have the mind of Christ.
Then Isaiah 54:2,3 came into my spirit
again. Enlarge the place of thy tent and the curtain of thine habitation,
spare not lengthen thy cords and strengthen thy stakes, for thou shall
break forth on the right hand and the left...
As I was reading Isaiah 54, I continued
reading in chapter 55 and discovered in verse 9... For as the heavens
are higher than your ways so are my ways higher than your ways and my
thoughts than your thoughts. This word comes just after He says, "enlarge,
lengthen, and strengthen”. I had not realized those two verses were so
close in proximity.
He began saying, "What I am telling you
(through these scriptures) is... don’t think so small”. When you take
fully My thoughts there can be none higher to which you can attain. In
the physical realm, once you have tapped in, there is no place to expand
but outward. You are not restricted by earthly limitations …you are the
mobile tabernacle of my spirit and my glory. If My people will enlarge
…the glorious habitation of My Glory will eventually merge into the next
and therein shall the whole earth be filled with My Glory. For the light
and glory in you will overtake the darkness”.
Then I was taken to the account in Exodus
where they were instructed to build the tent where God’s Presence was
to be. Indeed, they were limited because they had to carry the tent/tabernacle
that housed the presence of God from place to place physically. The tent/tabernacle
had to be folded, packed up, and carried to the next place. (Exodus 40:33,
34) So Moses finished the work in the natural. Then the Cloud (Holy Spirit)
covered the tent of the congregation and the glory of the Lord filled
the tabernacle, the cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. They did
not move unless the Spirit of God moved. Nevertheless, the presence
and glory of God was manifested day or night. The presence manifested
differently according to the amount of light present externally, which
is parallel to the glory we manifest internally at our different levels
of maturity.
CHRIST, THE TENTMAKER –VISION
Isaiah 54:2, 3 Enlarge the place of Thy
tent and the curtain of Thine Habitation, spare not lengthen Thy cords
and strengthen Thy stakes, for Thou shall break forth on the right hand
and the left...
Lest someone correct me, I know that the
scripture reference does not indicate that it is His tent, His habitation,
His cords or stakes. When we are done, you may agree that it is all His
or that it should be.
I had been studying the book by Andrew
Murray “Abiding In Christ”. ”Isa 54:2-3” came to my heart again. It seems
that every time I turn around God calls me to enlarge my tent –to stretch
out in every area of my life …enlarge my capacity receive from Him.
In Eph 3:17 Paul prays that “Christ would
dwell (settle down, abide and make His permanent home) in your heart”.
(Amp) One of the most moving scriptures that I have ever read is Isa 66:1
where the Lord says, Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me? And where is the place of my
rest? It is so humbling that our God who has everything would ask to us
to prepare a place for him to rest. In Acts 17:24, Paul makes it clear
that He does not dwell in places made with hands.
We find that God reveals spiritual concepts
relative to our life experiences. Since Paul was a tentmaker by trade,
we see that he refers to us as tents or tabernacles which house the Spirit
of God (2 Cor 5:4). I began to think of the scripture Christ in us the
hope of glory (Col 1:27 KJV). Exodus 40:34 says the cloud covered the
Tent Of Meeting and the Glory of the Lord filled the glory tabernacle.
When the glory of God filled the temple under the old covenant, only the
priest could go in. Just think, under the new covenant, Christ enters
into our tent (tabernacle) in all His glory. It becomes our “Secret Place”
…a private meeting place with the Lord.
Even John the beloved speaking of Christ
in John 1:14 said, “And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate)
and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and
we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an
only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness)
and truth.” Of course, since John did not write his account until years
after he had been with Jesus, perhaps Paul influenced this parallel.
As I meditated on all these things, I began
to see a vision or picture of a tent. I am sure the picture was of the
tent I was seeing was not the same as in Paul’s day. The only tents that
I have ever seen were made of canvas. I had recently seen a piece of canvas
splattered with rich colors of paint –like a drop cloth. It was wrinkled
and well used …perhaps that colored or influenced my revelation.
Our tents are made of colorful yet plain
cloth. Aging, weather, and abuse may cause our tents to become faded,
tattered, torn, and perhaps even wrinkled or dry from being folded or
put away.
Christ comes to bring life to our otherwise
hopeless-dead tents. His eyes see it as beautiful canvas waiting for the
Master’s “loving touch+” As we begin to abide together –He in us and us
in Him…as fine golden thread, He begins to weave His character and nature
into us …until our entire personalities, hopes, dream, and aspirations
become hidden in Him. The external tatters, tears, and wrinkles do not
seem to matter …eventually they are hardly visible in the light of eternity.
We indeed become the place of His rest.
His presence begins to provoke change;
it begins to purge us. We become white as snow, and yet our distinct uniqueness
lingers in greater splendor...more enriched …more radiant than ever before.
In all His grandeur, with thick cords of loving kindness He works in and
through us …knitting and uniting with us until; with we are totally encased
and veiled in Him.
Ps 91:4 [Then] He will COVER you with His
pinions, and under His wings, shall you trust and find refuge; His truth
and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. AMP
He becomes our covering, our refuge, our
high tower – it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me Gal 2:20
As we continually
break up the fallow ground, the stakes can be driven deep. His strength
–enables and reinforces our cords so that they can be stretched. He stretches
us into areas that we never could have dreamed, because it is no longer
us, but Christ who lives through us.
