I need to preface your reading of this by saying that I wrote this in
October. I have been holding it back because just after I began
writing it I discovered the many other things I would have to empty out
of myself. Now I am being transparent here. Those things I was forced
to face in me were not items of glaring sin, or rebellion, but we must
be empty of anything that is in us contrary to the nature of God. In light
of who He is all our imperfections seem to be magnified.
He always does it in
me first. Revelation is always so much more credible when flavored and
grounded in experience and coming from the overflow within. I was going
to go into greater depth about this experience, but this morning I asked
the Lord if he wanted me to release it. A couple of hours later I spoke
with a woman in the New Orleans area. Our discussion flowed into an almost
verbatim direction to this piece. I took that as a confirmation that I
was to release what I had and create another part(s) later.
While He is really loves
His Bride, He is also calling her to maturity. The world relates
to Christ by what they see in the Bride. What a chilling and grievous
thought?
God always sees the end
from the beginning ...regardless where we are in our journey As He works
through the Bride Collection –He does the same. Who would want to
look at the Bride in the midst of the process? We must gaze upon
the finished work rather than looking at her pitiful condition in the
light of His glory. Did you ever try to put a puzzle together without
being able to see the picture? The most amazing thing is while He
calls us to become the Bride; He takes the responsibility to establish
her identity. Then why does the Bride look the way she does?
An Emptying Out! An Ongoing Divine
Exchange (October 28, 2005)
Isa 42:20-22 20 You have seen many things,
but you do not observe or apprehend their true meaning. His ears
are open, but he hears not! It was the Lord's pleasure for His righteousness'
sake [in accordance with a steadfast and consistent purpose] to magnify
instruction and revelation and glorify them. But this is a people
robbed and plundered; they are all of them snared in holes and hidden
in houses of bondage. They have become a prey, with no one to deliver
them, a spoil, with no one to say, Restore them! [This shows the
condition that will ensue as Israel's punishment for not recognizing the
Servant of the Lord and the day of His visit among them.] [Luke
19:41-44.] AMP
Recently the Lord has
planted urgency in my spirit to help His people understand the importance
of clear and accurate discernment. A few days ago as I was waiting
on Him once again, I heard “an emptying out”.
I immediately began to
see the multiplicity of the concept –it is far reaching …from personal
levels to the effects that we see within society. It reaches beyond
the realm of what is seen in the natural and finds it roots in the spiritual.
Everything boils down to heart issues. The biggest hindrance in
my relationship with the Father has been my intellect. I wonder
if anyone else has that problem. I desperately needed head knowledge
to become “heart reality”. You see, revelation is not revelation
until you wake up one day to discover yourself walking in it. Sometimes
"seeing
you cannot see!"
Early in my serious walk
with Him, I ask Him to speak to me in the night seasons. (Ps 16:7)
When I went to sleep, I would say, “OK, Lord, my head is about to get
out of the way, so speak to me now, seal your instruction, bypass the
strongholds in my mind and bring revelation of the Word that I have hidden
in my heart”. Some people would say that God speaks in dreams because
otherwise He cannot get a word in edgewise. That may be true, but
some people are inclined to be dreamers and visionaries. When I
finally had the wisdom to invite His instruction and revelation to manifest
in my dreams the revelation I had of Him began really to increase. We
all have strongholds and sometimes He has to visit us in dreams or other
times when our mind is not trying to control us. We have allowed the enemy
to build strongholds, we need to tear them down and allow the Lord to
build the strongholds of His choosing.
Ps 31:4-5 4 Draw me out of the net that
they have laid secretly for me, for You are my Strength and my Stronghold.5
Into Your hands I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord, the
God of truth and faithfulness. [Luke 23:46; Acts 7:59.] AMP
During the journey, which
is still in progress, I have had many dreams and visions that illustrated
and revealed the process of “emptying out”. He uses the dreams I
have to bring clarity, first to do a work in me and then as an illustration.
Visuals seem to have lasting impacts –they bypass the thought realm and
go straight to the heart. Since He has prompted me to write this,
I am convinced, He want some more emptying out to be accomplished in me
…and at least one other person. Could that person be you?
(Some of the dreams and visions are on my
website)
Eccl 1:9-10 the thing that has been--it
is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will
be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there
a thing of which it may be said, See, this is new? It has already
been, in the vast ages of time [recorded or unrecorded] which were before
us. AMP
For years, I have cried
out, “Empty me of every influence except yours, so that when I see you
and others, it is not shaded or influenced by all the muck and mire I
have waded through in this journey of mine”. Few people ever accused
me of looking at the world through rose-colored glasses”, because my life
has not been a bed of roses. Read
Behind the Veil to gain deeper insight.
As I write this, I am
not entirely sure which way, to what depth or breadth He wants to cover
the subject in this single writing. To give you a hint, “what is in the
well always comes up in the bucket”, words, opinions, actions (or lack
thereof), preconceived ideas, etc. Right or wrong, good are bad,
there is a continuous “emptying out” of what has been placed in your
well. Those contents influence the “issues of life” …your relationships
with God, peers, loved ones, on the job and in church …every area of life.
Prov 4:20-23 My son, give attention to my words; Incline
your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep
them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them,
and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence,
for out of it spring the issues of life. NKJV
If we can agree that the concept works,
lets also agree that attending to the words of others …inclining our ears
to the sayings of ungodly counsel …keeping it (the words, opinions and
sayings) in the midst of our heart; they are death and disease to
our flesh. Are there issues that dwell deep within you that keep
coming up … bringing death and disease?
A MODERN DAY PARABLE
I am reminded of Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans was visited by momentary
torrential rain, winds of devastation, destruction, and adversity.
The most lingering and long-term damage was from the water that breached
walls and levees designed to hold it back. During the flooding,
debris, garbage, pollutants, and other contaminants overwhelmed the city.
The city will for many days suffer the effects of the breach even after
the water subsides. The breach left the city vulnerable to robbing
and plundering (Isa 42:22). Once the city had been compromised,
individual dwellings became violated as well. Heaven only knows
what the residual effects will be. The entire city needs to be cleansed.
In my limited perception, I am trying to picture how that can possibly
be accomplished. I used the example of New Orleans because what
occurred during the hurricane was blatantly obvious to everyone.
Let’s move on to your neighborhood (your soul). Follow closely and
listen with your spirit, you must know that our focus is not really the
effects of natural disasters. For more insight on breaches and walls,
you may choose to read more on the purpose and importance of public and
private walls in a section simply called Your Walls. Even
as I write this, the Lord would say to those who have suffered natural
and spiritual trauma and devastation
Can a woman forget her nursing child, or
show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms
of my hands; your walls are continually before me. Your builders
outdo your destroyers, and those who laid you waste go away from you.
(Isa 49:15-17 NRSV)
Everyday, for centuries
neighborhoods have been bombarded little by little with the effects and
build-up of that which New Orleans suffered in a matter of days.
Because it has come in small measures over a period, it has been hardly
noticeable. We have become oblivious to what has really happened
…with little comprehension of the ultimate consequences. What is
unnatural has become perceived as natural.
Once again, “what is
in the well comes up in the bucket”. Therefore, would you agree
that we are always emptying out, but the question is…? “What is
the source of that which we are emptying out?” Do we realize that
every ungodly input into our lives muddies the water? If the water
is murky, we cannot see anyone or anything without its influence. This
affects every relationship, perception, and decision that we form. (see
Moments Of Visitation)
Isa 58:10-12 And if you pour out that with
which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of
the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity
and gloom become like the noonday. And the Lord shall guide you
continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong
your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring
of water whose waters fail not. And your ancient ruins shall be
rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of [buildings that have laid
waste for] many generations; and you shall be called Repairer of the Breach,
Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. AMP
Well, I had not necessarily
planned to address the point, but I guess I will go there. Once
again, I ask you think about what the Word says, just in reverse.
If you pour out that with which sustains your own life… is what you are
pouring out on others pure and undefiled or it is tainted and putrid?
Is the light that you shine into darkness scarcely lighter than the darkness
into which you are taking it? How many times do we see the Lord
addressing people who are blind to their own faults? How many times
have you experienced other Christians, even leaders spewing out from a
diseased soulish realm onto people that have come for help, only to leave
more wounded and confused. Why is that? It is because there
must be a determination within each of us to empty out all that is within
us and come as an empty vessel waiting for Him to pour in and then through
us.
God is calling us to
examine ourselves and remain watchful of the many actions (reactions),
responses and attitudes which crop up in our daily existence which have
nothing to do with the “Now”. In this season, we must know beyond
any doubt that which we are emptying out is free from worldly ties, opinions,
motives, or influence. There must be a determination within each
of us to empty out all that is within us and come as an empty vessel waiting
for a divine exchange ...for Him to pour in all that He is.
Notice I am suggesting that we take responsibility of the examining.
According to Leviticus, it was the priest’s responsibility to examine
the evidence of leprosy. I am going to end this with that comment to
ponder. However, in all your pondering do not get trapped into
focusing on the problem instead of the Problem Solver.
